Star wars sleep overs

So Seth's favorite thing to do on "no school days" is to fall asleep in the basement watching a star wars movie. So tonight we went down to check on him- can't turn off the movie or that wakes him right up- and I see that he has a "friend" all tucked in enjoying the sleep over! It was so cute, he tucked in his giant monkey friend! So sweet:)

I'm Back!!!

I'm Back- It's been a while but I am ready to start documenting our lives for everyone to see!
So a very quick update:
Mikayla is now 6 reading like a champ, says math is her favorite subject, and has lost a total of 5 teeth with one top tooth left to fall out:) She likes to hang on to them as long as she can. It is so cute to see her toothless grin! She is also riding her bike training wheels free and can't wait for the snow to melt so she can live life on the go.
Seth is now 4 and loving life. He is doing great in preschool even though he will not let you know what he knows. He still knows that all he has to do is flash that smile and he gets what he wants from everyone! Its cute when he's being cute but when its time for me to discipline it drives me crazy when everyone else has their input on how "He's so sweet why do you make him cry..."
It's crazy for me to think that he will be in kindergarten next year- my baby is not a baby anymore:(
Billy is still building his business and doing great. It has almost been a year and things have changed in such an amazing way! We could use a little more help in getting the word out but other than that it has been awesome. I am so proud of him and it is amazing how much he has been able to see the kids more than just at dinner and bed time. I can tell they are really happy having him around for so many more activities. He just recently sold his dirt bike and is becoming obsessed with downhill biking. He likes it and is even getting Kayla excited about flying down the mountain this summer!
And I have been trying to figure out what I want to do with all of my free time and I have decided to get involved with the kids school. Currently I am the vice president of the PTCO and next year will make the jump to president. I am excited for the challenge and ready to do something on my own but still have the flexibility to enjoy my family. This all started this past November, I went to one meeting just to get information and I ended up knowing our school needed to go into a new direction and the only way to fix it was to "Take it over" HAHAHAHA- I am getting a lot of positive feed back already and cant wait for next year.
As a family we have decided to try something new for our new years resolution! Most people give up one thing for the year and are done by February- we didn't want to be failures so on new years eve we made a list. Every month we are giving up something and adding a new adventure. So far it has been hard and fun. For January we gave up sugar- that was the hardest on Seth and I. It was mostly giving up candy, pop, and desserts, there is sugar in almost everything so we didn't give up ALL sugar but it was enough for our bodies to feel a difference. And our new adventure was to go snowboarding and skiing. We had a great time, we went up 2 different times and really had fun. Mikayla picked up snowboarding quick. She even mastered the lift- which is always hard for me. Seth had great balance but just wanted to bomb down the mountain- so of course that terrified me. We all survived:) February was to give up saying NO and for me to only cook new recipes. This was a fun month for me- I never heard "Oh man really this again" and for the most part we really enjoyed all 25 new meals! The saying No was really to get the kids out of the habit of telling Billy and I NO when we asked them to pick up their shoes or to put their toys away- every time they said it they had to pay us a dollar- it kind of back fired when they would call us out on saying NO to them and so our $$pot did not amount to much:( But I feel we are a much kinder family- we figured out new ways to say NO! My favorite is Seth's no matter what we ask he says "No Thank you" And now for march we have decided to not eat meat- only fish or vegetarian meals. And our adventure is to take a road trip to the Grand Canyon stopping at all the different stops along the way. We are in the process of looking for a camper now and will be leaving the last week of march. We are all so excited to see what this trip will bring to our family! Of course I will be documenting along the way!

So that's the major points of our lives that I have not blogged about in almost a year- but I am ready to get back into this and start blogging like crazy!

Mikayla's First Field Trip

A few weeks ago Mikayla had her first field trip to our local Fire station. Seth loved it the most. He was so excited and I think yelled Wee-OO-Wee-OO the whole time! It was cute. It was fun to learn all kinds of things about the fire house. The firemen made sure to tell us that they pay for the huge flat screen T.V. and all of their food- not our tax money! In my opinion I think they should be able to get nice things every once in a while- they work hard and for us!!! Anyways we also learned that only Dr.s and Firemen have the ability to make decisions on patients with out their permission. And that they always have to travel together in case they get a call. If they are at the grocery store and get a call the grocery store workers put all the food they had in the cart into a big freezer until they can back and get it. Our fire house has a huge area to cover and are always busy they have 3 different teams that work the different shifts A-B-C and they have 3 of everything to keep organized! We had Team A (the best team- but I think no matter what team they would have said they were the best)And they were busy they were late because they were on a call. Then we got to see the firetrucks. They showed us all of the parts and how things worked and then they let us walk through (both of my kids became very shy and would not walk through) and then we took pictures. It was very cold but I made them stand there and take pictures and then Mikayla wanted all of her friends to be in the pictures as well. Then they got another call and had to leave so we got to watch them drive away with lights and sirens! Overall it was a great time.My favorite was that Mikayla did not have to ride the bus! I don't know why but I am still worried for her to do that! I'll be ready by the time she is 30=) Enjoy the pictures!

Spring Break

Ok so not meeting my goals of posting every week but I am doing it when I have time. Mikayla has recently discovered webkinz and is on the computer all the time. It is kind of cute! And yes I could use the iPhone but I don't know how to put the pictures up on here from the iphone=( and really who looks at this hoping there are no pictures? No one so here is what we did for our spring break- Billy has not been at his new job for a year yet- soon but not yet so no vacation yet! But we go to do some pretty cool things. We went swimming dyed Easter eggs tried to go to the Denver zoo but was way to crazy so we went to Utah Park and feed the ducks and played in the sand. And we saved the funnest trip for last we went to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs.
Swimming was fun but the kids are ready to be outside and so am I! Utah Park was fun they have made it really nice. Grandma Auntie came with us but unfortunately the camera did not=( But we had a great time and tasted some yummy sand cakes made by the fabulous pastry chef - Chef Mikayla. Of course we had to get ready for Easter. Billy was out of town in Dallas Texas for work so we went to Grandma Auntie's to dye Easter Eggs! It was a lot of fun! This year Seth only threw one egg into the dye and it wasn't that messy! For some reason we could not get the purple to work and that was the only color Mikayla really wanted! But we made some really pretty eggs. On Friday we went to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo(CMZ). All week I practiced what I am learning at Journey Higher and focused on positivity and good thoughts for good weather. At the beginning of the week it was going to snow then in the middle of the week it said rain and Friday morning I woke up to sunny and chilly with some wind. I was so happy that I didn't just focus on the bad weather- or maybe the outcome would have been much worse. We bundled the kids up with hats and gloves and coats and headed up the mountain! We went with Amie and Lucas and Logan. We had a lot of fun. First we had to feed the giraffes. It was windy but the sun was out and we got to feed Giraffes! The whole reason we went to the Zoo was to feed the giraffes. It was so much cooler than the Zoo in Jacksonville Fl. We were so close to them I got to pet them even though they did not like that! The Fl. zoo had them kind of far away and we were not allowed to touch them at all. We also could only feed them leaves. At the CMZ they were so close to us and we feed them giraffe crackers. We felt their tongues and ears and noses. It was so fun. we also saw some other really cool animals- the elephants were getting their feet cleaned and the Monkeys were so funny and so monkey like!! There was one problem ... Seth... We were in the hippo area and were watching them walk into the water pool and we heard a splash. Amie freaked out and thought he threw my iPhone in there- I said no I have that so I looked in and could see that he picked up a rock (conveniently placed in a potted tree pot right next to the pool) and threw it right in. I yelled at him and said "Seth we don't throw rocks into the Hippos" and all he said was "Splash Momma Splash" It was cute but I thought we were gonna get kicked out. It did not hurt anything- thank goodness. Plus that was about the time we were ready to leave so we did- but we had to feed the giraffes one more time! It was an awesome trip! A great way to end our spring break!

Journey Higher...

Billy has a new business plan and I know it is really going to take off. Him and our friend Brian have a brilliant idea to bring motivation to you. Journey Higher has been an idea for a while and they just got it into play. They have a website that makes you feel like you can handle any situation and teach you how to make your life the best it can be. You can and should subscribe to this wonderful idea. When life just throws so many things at you and you feel like you won't ever be happy again there is Journey Higher. When you feel like you life is wonderful and you don't know how to keep it going your way there is Journey Higher. When you want to build the best relationship with your spouse children family and friends there is Journey Higher. There is nothing out there like this. Billy calls it motivation on demand and I just love that description. The more you think positive the more your life will feel complete and the only one who can think positive for you is you! Many people need to be taught how to think positive and feel like they deserve to feel good about their life. I know for me I feel selfish doing things for me but if I am thinking positive then I am teaching my kids how to feel positive and that is one of the best things I can do for them. I am really enjoying this new path and can't wait to see how many lives will be changed because of this wonderful idea. Please check out the site and tell all of your friends and family! It will change your life!!

Mikayla

Our Friend Landon was over the other night and he asked Mikayla what kind of dogs she had. She said "What" He said "I have a Siberian Husky- what kind do you have?" She Answered with "Stupid Dogs!" He replied with "No what kiiinnddd of dogs do you have?" Again with out missing a beat she said "STTUUPPIIDD DOOOOOOGS!" And then turned to Daddy and asked him- Billy not hearing the conversation just the "what kind of dogs do we have" said "Stupid dogs" Landon's response was "Oh I guess you were right" Now Mikayla knows we have a German Shepard and a Fox hound but they will always be our stupid dogs!!

Better!

well at least I hope we are all better. Billy has not had the stomach flu and I hope to keep it that way! Our mountain trip got cut short because Seth got sick and could not stop throwing up. We had to leave in the middle of the night- well the middle of his night. We got home right before midnight on Saturday night- we just got up there at 3pm Saturday afternoon! I felt so bad for him of course we got home and got him some pedialyte and he was much better. I was worried he would get really dehydrated and I didn't want to spend the night in the ER. I am glad we came home and he was fine it was better then us not coming home and him getting worse. Then Sunday we all felt fine we went to the children's museum and watched a ballet of beauty and the beast- the kids did really well and had a blast playing after! Then we watched the Superbowl! Go Saints!! It was a good game- I was disappointed in the commercials though=( But surprisingly the game made up for it! Then it was Monday and Billy got called into work last minute so now this is 12 days of work in the last 14 days=( no fun!! And then to top it off I got the stomach flu- I think I would rather be pregnant and sick all day for 4 months then have that thing again=( At least when I am pregnant I get something at the end. This just sucked and would not stop!! I am finally felling better- but my muscles are still really sore. Today was the first day I have been out of the house since Sunday afternoon! And it was nice and sunny! Now to get ready for Valentines day=)

Poor baby

Mikayla has been sick this week with some kind of stomach bug- and luckily for me she has been funny! Don't get me wrong, I feel awful that she is sick. It's wasn't funny that she threw up all over my bed- but it reminded me of the movie "parenthood" when the dad, played by Steve Martin, said it's ok if you have to throw up and the little girl let's it all go right there on his bed! Thy was how it happened- I had no warning! Then of course all she could do was apologize for getting sick. So the next day she seemed to be better- not sick at all just some times when her stomach hurt- but I explained that it takes a while for it to get back to normal. So I would ask her how she is feeling and she would hold up her fingers like she was measuring something an say " this much more normal" so I thought we were in the clear... Then on Wednesday she woke up saying it was hurting and it was not normal something was wrong- I asked where it hurt and she kept saying all over, one time I asked how it felt and she answered " like my tummy is going to explode" and then she would be fine playing with her brother. I was worried that it was coming and going- she wasn't throwing up anymore so then I was worried about her appendix. Mine never hurt on the lower right side and I never had a fever and my pain came and went. So when another pain wave came through I asked her how she felt and she said " I can't walk, I feel like I'm gonna go to heaven" and then she threw up- I called the Dr! They said I need to keep an eye on her and if she keeps crying and can't walk for 2 hours then I need to take her in. So she cried for a little bit and then daddy came home and she ran to him and then we went to a friends house for dinner ( she said she was feeling better) and she was running around playing and jumping all over, but anytime someone asked her how her stomach was she would fall down and say "it hurts- I have a bug you know". It was funny, I don't likethat she was in so much pain but I think from now on when I am in pain I'm going to say " it feels like I'm going to go to heaven" instead of "I think I'm going to die"! It just sounds better!

Eating rules...

Now that the kids are 2 and 4 Billy and I thought it was time to start putting rules to eating. Mikayla has always been a great eater and a good listener. Seth on the other hand has been a little pickier- and now that he is over his Milk Allergies we thought we could be more strict with what they have to eat. Mikayla was also watching Seth get away with more so she was starting to be more defiant. So last week I decided that I was going to try something different. They both are awesome eaters for breakfast and sometimes for dinner lunch is much different- they eat some but not as much as I would like them to- so I figured out that they snack all day long and that was not ok. So I told them they needed to eat all of lunch if they wanted snacks. Of course they didn't so I stuck to my guns they asked and I said " no you didn't eat lunch". It was hard at first but they stopped asking after a while. Until Seth woke up from nap- he asked for fruit snacks and I told him No. I was making Tacos for dinner and had all the ingredients ready and he asked for cheese- not even thinking I said yes and gave him some=( I know I know supernanny would be so disappointed but everyone makes mistakes right? So I tell Mikayla that she can have some cheese too and she says "But you said no snack!" I say "I know I messed up and already gave him some so you can have some too" so she came to the table and was eating it and says "Mommy does this mean your rule is expired?"

P.S. Even though they ate the cheese they ate awesome at dinner and have eaten all of their lunchs! now they get 1 snack inbetween lunch and dinner- as long as they eat their lunch=)

Days go by...

Well I didn't take any pictures up at the mountain house but I did get some scrapbooking done! I finished my Disney vacation that we took last February! I'm proud it is done but now I am ready to go on another vacation!
I have been feeling really burnt out these past few weeks and still am but its getting a little better! We had a really busy weekend and usually I love those weekends but this time I was grumpy and not making the most of it. First we had Dinner with my Dad- which I did enjoy because I didn't have to cook and I got to see my Dad! Saturday we had to go find a camera for Billy's Mom for her birthday and they didn't have the one we liked by us so we had to drive to highlands Ranch- but Amie and Lucas came with us! Mikayla had a great time with him! Then we had the rodeo that night. Billy was not able to get off as early as I would like so that put me in a stressed out grumpy mood because I hate being late.
We were meeting Sierra Ryan Jaden and Adysen there! We got there in ok time and went to the petting zoo! Mikayla and Seth had a blast- Jaden has major allergies so he didn't stay as long- but the funniest part was Billy became attached to a goat. It was cute- the goat ate his whole ice cream cone (they put the animal food into the cones it was easier to feed them!)in one bite. Then we went to the rodeo- it was a weird night for the performers. The westernaires keep messing up and falling off their horses. Miss Rodeo USA fell off her horse. The half time entertainment was these Monkeys riding dogs that were herding sheep. watch them now to see last years performance. It was funny but weird. Both kids fell asleep before it was over so we left and missed all of the traffic!
Then Sunday we had breakfast with My Mom and Sister and then had Birthday dinner for Billy's parents! It was nice having all of the cousins together running around like monkeys on dogs=) We had a yummy dinner and a great time.
And on Monday we thought it would be fun to take the kids to the museum of nature and science! It was a lot of fun! We went to the new hall of life and this time Billy aged himself to 70 years.

I still can not believe that it is the end of January- I am excited because my birthday soon! Maybe that will get me out of my bad mood!

What if...

So here is my question of the week/month/year/decade-and I'm sure I am not the only mother to ask it. "Is what I am letting my child do now going to mess him/her up later in life?" The reason I am asking is because I was playing with the kids up in Mikayla's room and we were playing house. The kids were cooking and I was inviting dinner guests. Of course I had to invite Captain Hook the crocodile and Peter Pan the lost boys and Wendy Michael and John! It was quiet the party because Hook had to be nice and not take away Maggie and Jack (Mikayla and Seth)! It was a lot of fun until I took pictures- Seth is in a Pink cottage cooking on a pink Princess Kitchen wearing a pink High School musical apron. Everything the kids plays with is Pink or Princess. and I thought "Is this going to cause him to have issues when he grows up?" Now I have no idea what kind of issues- but issues! Am I crazy? Or is that just how it works when you have a boy and a girl and the girl is older? Oh and now did I just really mess him up because I posted this on the internet?

Week-end

So here it is Friday and I haven't gotten on here once. I feel like this week was so busy but at the same time that we did nothing! So I guess I will start with Monday. It was our friend Travis' birthday. We went to a Nuggets
game to celebrate and had a great time. Made me think of my Minnesota family and friends because we played the Timberwolves. Of course the Nuggets won! It was a lot of fun Mikayla got free ice cream because she is cute- and Mom and Dad waited to long and the lady already shut everything up but one bag of rainbow dip-in-dots and of course that was what Mikayla wanted! Seth got to see Rocky the Nuggets mascot up close but no picture because the guy wouldn't stop for us to hand him Seth=( But it still made Seth's day! Got home late so Mikayla did not go to school on Tuesday. But we did get to go to the Downtown Denver Stock Show Parade. I got a call from my neighbor asking if we wanted to go to the parade. It sounded like fun to is so we went! I was proud of us- 2 moms with 5 children in the middle of downtown! Mikayla (oldest at 4) Sienna (2 older than Seth by 3 weeks) Seth Jackson (baby I watch during the week- 7 months) and Kylie (younger than Jackson by 3 weeks)Trying to find a public parking space during the week at lunch time was the hardest part of our adventure. Finally we found one(next time I am taking the lightrail) and had to get all of our stuff together- 2 strollers 5 kids coats snacks camera ect... got to the spot where we could see the parade and saw all kinds of horses tractors cowboys and a heard of long horn cattle. It was so weird to see this parade and remember that it was downtown Denver on my left was a man in a business suit and on my right was a real cowboy or at least he looked real! The kids had a great time and loved that everyone was waving to them and Seth being the only boy able to recognize the poop was so excited to see it and point it out to everyone! I'm glad we went it was only a half hour long but perfect for the kids! We finished out outing with lunch at McDonald's!
Wednesday and Thursday were really boring we didn't leave the house! Today we are getting ready for the weekend to go up to the Big Red Shed- The mountain house that my Mom and her husband Don bought in Frisco. I'm sure I will have lots of stories to tell after the trip!

Seth Update

I can't remember what I have said about Seth's speech so here are some updates. Seth has been in speech for 9 months now. His first teacher that we had for 2 months was terrible, and I guess I wasn't the only one who complained- the lady that we go through to get the services said that a lot of families complained about the same things, mainly that she didn't really want to work with kids. When we first met she told me to get rid of sippy cups, get rid of the pacifier, and that she would not teach him sign language. Well he was only 18 months and I was not going to get rid of sippy cups- I already have enough messes to clean up and the pacifier I was OK with but Seth was not having it! And he was communicating with sign language so I didn't like her from the start. SO we got a new teacher who we LOVE!! She is awesome, the first day she brought all kinds of signing books and was really impressed with how fast he learned them. She told me not to worry about sippy cups they do not hinder speech and that we will work on the pacifier thing! At 18 months he had maybe 4 words that he said and about 10 would that he would sign. Now he has way over 50 words he uses and is learning new ones all the time. He is just now starting to combine words so he is behind on that but is making progress. I am really enjoying the program and will be sad when he turns 3 and will move up to the preschool level. I am excited that if he qualifies for speech after he is 3 (tested in May) he gets to go to preschool (the same preschool that Mikayla is in right now) for free. 4 days a week both of my kids will be at school for 2 1/2 hours! No matter what Seth is going to preschool at least 2 days a week but free is always the best:) I will try and get video of him talking and put it on here!- he is the best at saying things for Mikayla;)

2010!

I know I know! Way to long for me to tell all the details of my life! So here is to a new year and a new years resolution! I have made a few and one of them is to keep blogging! I really want to keep in touch with family and friends who are far away from me! I know the easiest way is going to be through email facebook and this blog! I have a few friends who blog all the time and I love reading their posts! My goal is to post at least twice a week and maybe to get everyone to write comments on here! It is great to see who all reads this and enjoys knowing what goes on in my life.
2010 has been great so far=) the kids are driving me crazy but in a good way-! now I know why parents cant wait for school to start back up! We had such a busy break but great time with friends and family! I am ready for 2010 to be great! My kitchen will be finished- I am going to get organized all things will have a place! I feel that if my house is more organized then my life will feel more organized! I guess my biggest challenge is to get my family to help keep it all organized! So far I have gone through the basement and got rid of all toys that are broken or to small for the kids and got more totes to keep all the toys cleaned up- now if only I could get the toys to put themselves away! I also went through the kids rooms not their closets but the rest. Next week is the closets I think I am done saving clothes for friends! I haven't given them to anyone I just say I will so I think I am ready to let them go! It's hard to think that my babies are not babies! However I am ready to celebrate that my kids are out of diapers!! I have to go through my closet too- maybe that will help with the laundry! I have so many clothes that I wait so long to do the laundry that when I get to it it is almost a pile taller than me=) not really but you know what I mean! So here is to me accomplishing my 2010 goals! I'm excited and not gonna quit until 2011!! Hope to here from you soon!

New Hall of Life at Museum of Nature and Science

One hot afternoon this summer we went to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. They have redone the hall of life and it took us 4 times to pick a day to go that had times open to go and see it. Brittany and I took the kids. We had heard about the aging machine and were excited to see ourselves looking 70 years old. The line was really long and Brittany took the kids to play and look at other things while I stood in line. They have a T.V. hanging on the wall that shows everybody your results. It was interesting to see everyone before me until one girl (young and pretty) did it and did not look so pretty- I don't know why but right there I decided I was standing in line for Brittany- she could do it:) Then it was close to our turn and Brittany came back with the kids- she saw someones results and said Nope not gonna do it. So we thought lets see if it will read Mikayla's face and then we can see what she will look like! It did and wow it is weird how it works- I still don't think I will put my face in there but I would like to see other people I know do it- here is Mikayla's face at age 45 and at 70

So then we went to look at the rest of the exhibits and I was standing in line for this one that you walk across the floor and it gives you information about your walk. I did not see where Seth was and I turned to look at the t.v.s behind me and I saw this little kid that looked just like Seth I asked Brittany if that was him and she said yes- he saw another kid walk through and he just took off- I felt bad for the person he cut in front of but it is amazing how real it is! Sorry it is blurry- it moves for the next person to be on the screen. Seth is the middle and Mikayla is on the right!

Next we went to play in the activity room and they had a huge wall of little sticks that you can put things in on one side and you see the image on the other- I don't know the name:( But here are Mikayla and Seth's faces:

We had a great time and I can't wait to go back and play with all of the other exhibits!

First baseball game for Seth

This August we went to a Rockies game! It was a lot of fun! It was Seth's first game. He has really been into sports and I was excited to take him to this game. I have not been following the Rockies, I try to go to a game once a year and that is it. Well the Rockies were up to bat and a Guy named Seth Smith was batting. I was so excited to see another Seth:) And I yelled Go Seth and my Seth got really excited and thought it was really cool that we were all cheering for him. He learned to Swing the bat, catch the ball and trow the ball:) It was super cute and I am glad we went! Who knows maybe Seth Fischer will be a baseball player! All of Billy's friends think he will be a famous skateboarder or Motorcycle pro- that to me means lots of heart attacks for Mom:)

Seth is a big boy!!!

I am so proud of my kids this summer! I am always proud but they are really growing up and it is awesome that I don't miss a second of it!

Seth is potty trained! I have to give credit to Billy because he got him to pee on the potty first! One night he set him on the potty and pored water on his "pee pee" and Seth went. We were all so excited that Seth thought it was awesome and wanted to do it again! A few days went by and he was still needing the water but he was going anywhere and everywhere! It was great. Then one day he told me "Poop" and I rushed him to the potty and he peed! I was so proud of him for telling me that he had to go! We have had a few accidents but for the most part he is doing awesome! He loves his big boy undies and I think he is happy to be out of the sweaty diapers! He still wears a pull up to bed and during nap times but other than that he is good to go!
Oh and yes- he really never wears clothes now!!! It is easier for me to remember to take him to the bathroom when he is running around naked! And it is less laundry that I have to do!
