Mikayla's last day of "School of Mommy"

Well it is that time of year that kids are getting out of school and getting ready for summer vacation. I have seen a few friends talking about their kids accomplishments and I would like to fill everyone in with Mikayla's!

This year she did not go to preschool. We missed the cutoff date and then I just didn't find one that I liked as much as the one she went to last year. So she attended "School of Mommy" during Seth's morning nap we would have school. She didn't like it at first- she wanted friends. I really couldn't help with that- but I am proud to say that she is now a graduate of "School of Mommy" and will be going to preschool in the fall of 2009. She has been accepted and will be going to Sunrise Elementary school. This is our home school and I am very excited for her to meet new friends that will live in our neighborhood. She is going to be going 4 days a week in the am. She is very excited and ready to "go to school"

She can recognise almost all of her letters. She has a hard time with lower case letters but she needs something to learn in school right? She can count to 20 with only a few problems with 15,16,17,18- she gets them all in there but not in the right order. She can spell her name and Seth's name. She can not write them yet. She knows all of her shapes and colors. She knows her birthday and most of the days of the week.

She won't be 4 until July but she can't wait. When she is 4 she will do all kinds of things- like picking up her toys, and listing to me and Billy better. Those are her words! We had her yearly speech meeting and she is still age appropriate and doing great. We did find out that a speech teacher will come into her classroom once a week and work on things with the class. I know this will help- I do think that just being in preschool with help her language and clarity.

All 4 of us are very excited for this summer and then for her to start school. I know she will do great just like this year:)

For Tosha's Table...

So if you take a look at Tosha's table today you will see she has been working on "fixing" photos using photoshop! It is pretty amazing what you can do with it! I was joking with her about us never having random pictures! Soon every picture will be picture perfect. Everyone looking at the same camera and smiling and maybe a person who didn't come in time for the picture will be in the picture!!! So here is my example of photoshop I did not do it My friend Travis took the picture and his girlfriend Jessica did the extras:) I keep telling them they need to make a business out of their talents:)

So what she did was zoom in, remove the drool off of Kayla's lip and hand (don't ask), and add the top of Mikayla's head back:) It is really amazing what they can do now! Mikayla was in a mood that she did not want her picture taken and this was the best one where at least she was looking and smiling at the same time! Thanks to Jessica I have an awesome picture that I will love forever!! She did another one of my stomach when I was pregnant with Seth and it has My hand, Billy's hand and Mikayla's hand on it. I love that picture now that she took away all of my stretch marks and all the other stuff that goes along with being pregnant! Maybe one day I will get the nerve to put them up on here:)

Seth Weight Update!

So after 3 weeks of calling the Dr's office I finally got another appointment with our Dr. and for free!! We went in and he asked why we were here because Seth's weight looked fine!! I told him the whole story and he kept apologising. And at one point of the story I felt really bad because his mouth just kept dropping like really this all happened in 30 minutes!! And then he told me he was sorry for not being in the office more but he and his wife had just had a baby- and then I was annoyed that they couldn't just tell me that. I would have waited to take Seth in to see him when he was back!! Anyways he said Seth is growing perfect for his body. When we look at the growth chart he is gaining weight at a good pace (for him) and a good height. The Dr. said he is growing at the exact same rate as a kid on the 90th% would be growing. So I was glad to hear that I wasn't crazy and he will probably never be a huge kid- but look at me and Billy we are not huge!! So whatever that Lady sucked!! But now her boss knows and hopefully she will get a good talking too:)

So the other thing we have been working on with Seth is his speech. He has had 3 meetings with a speech therapist. The first 2 were awful she wasn't teaching him anything and told me I had to pick the 5 words I wanted him to learn and then teach them to him without teaching me how to teach him!! I was wondering what her purpose was. Today was much better. I kind of "guided her" in the direction I wanted to see the class going:) She actually talked at him and made him work and say sounds!! He did a great job today and is getting much better! But I think it is because he is learning that language has a meaning!! Today he even said "Snack" and he didn't cry and wasn't just babbling he really wanted a snack! It is awesome that he is learning and growing so much!! He is turning into a little boy!
A crazy, no fear, fun loving little boy but still a little boy!!

Kitchen updates

Well it has been a week and a lot has happened:)

We got the plumbing moved with no leaks. The duct work moved and connected- Seth's room was disconnected in 2 different places- that would explain why his room was so cold. The cabinets removed from one spot and moved to where they will be from now on. They are not screwed in yet because the breakfast wall is not ready for that yet. The lazy susan and the Pantry got put in, the are not stained yet because we are not totally sure what we are going to do with all of the cabinets yet.The dishwasher is moved to the right place:) now the dishwasher can be loaded/unloaded and not get in the way of the oven and me cooking dinner! The frame for the ceiling, the wall next to the fridge and the 1/2 wall for the breakfast bar are all framed. And the beam is in place and holding the whole house still:)

I feel like we don't have a lot to do to finish it but I know it will take a lot of time because Billy started his new job today and we will have to do bits and pieces here and there! But we need to finish the drywall for all 3 walls, find tile for the floor, put the wood floor in the dining room, build the breakfast bar counter top,
get new counter tops for the rest of the cabinets, and put up the track lighting lights over the bar area. Of course now I have so many more ideas of what to do in the rest of the house- but I think I will give Billy a break:)
